Hayden Gary Carter
November 15, 1992 - October 18, 2021
Hayden Gary Carter, age 28, of Newark, DE, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021.
Born in Newark, DE, on November 15, 1992, he was a son of Lynn Ann (Reeser) Carter and the late Henry (Hank) Grady Carter, III. Hayden graduated from the University of Delaware in 2020 with degrees in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics and Physics. After completing his undergraduate education, Hayden began pursuing a PhD in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Hayden had a thirst for knowledge that was nearly impossible to quench. He was an avid reader with no topic off limits. With Hayden, there was no such thing as engaging in small talk. He spent much of his time pondering profound questions about humanity, religion, and the most effective way for him to contribute something meaningful to the world. Hayden loved engaging in deep conversations with opposing viewpoints that made everyone involved question their opinions, biases, and assumptions.
In addition to the intellectual curiosity that defined Hayden, he loved food. Nothing seemed to make him happier than a good meal. Just like his father before him, he also had a passion for music. He enjoyed both listening to music and writing his own. He also developed a love for writing and wrote a book that he hoped would one day be published.
Hayden was preceded in death by his father. Hayden is survived by his mother; brother, Henry Grady Carter, IV (Bridget); nieces and nephews, Maire, Logan, James, Calli, and Bruce; and the many aunts, uncles, and cousins who he loved.
Hayden was a kind, gentle, shy, and generous man, who was loved deeply by the friends and family that he opened himself to and allowed to know the real him. He was an involved and caring Uncle who cherished the time he got to spend with his nieces and nephews.
All services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Hayden’s memory to atTAck Addiction, P.O. Box 36, Bear, DE, 19701.
