Helen M. Bevenour, age 93, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on June 14, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Sarah (Graham) Lee, Sr. Helen graduated from St John the Baptist High School in Manayunk, PA. She met the love of her life, Jackie, in Seaside Heights, NJ and they married and raised seven children together. Helen went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and continued to care for many more babies and children before retiring from Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia.

Helen was the most devout Catholic and never ceased in her faith. She was especially devoted to the Blessed Mother and enjoyed saying the rosary, attending Novena and listening to hymns praising Mary.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John B. Bevenour, Sr.; son, John B. Bevenour, Jr; son-in-law, John Hafycz; brother, Edward Lee; and her beloved Aunt Marie Graham. She is survived by her children, Edward Bevenour (Arleen) of Harleysville, PA, Raymond Bevenour (Elizabeth) of Blue Bell, PA, Roy Bevenour (Pam) of Newark, DE, Theresa Hafycz of Newark, DE, Ellen Mullen of Newark, DE, and Mark Bevenour (Sherri) of Phila, PA; grandchildren, Andy, Aaron, Adam, EJ, Nicholas, Michael, Matthew, Taylor, Nick, John, Shane, Paul, Joel, Caitlyn, Leigha, Mike, Maura and Genevieve; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly.

The family would like to express special thanks to the entire staff at Compassionate Care Hospice, Paramount Memory Care and Griswold Home Care.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Immaculate Heart Parish, 819 Cathedral Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W. Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19150.
