Howard Edwin Farley, Sr.

Howard Edwin Farley Sr., age 67, of New Castle, DE, suddenly passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, after a short illness.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 5, 1956, he was a son of Ruth (Martin) Farley and the late James L. Farley. Howard moved to Delaware with his family at the young age of 9 and later graduated from Concord High School in Wilmington in 1974. He went on to work for multiple electrical company’s before becoming an electrician with Amtrak.

Howard was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He loved to cook and take care of his garden in the spring and summer season. Howard always kept himself busy with little and big projects around the house. But his #1 was time spent with his fiancée Lisa, his family, and grandkids.

In addition to his father, Howard was preceded in death by his best friend, John Morrison Jr. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Farley; siblings, Karen MacIntosh, and Carl Farley; fiancée of 12 years, Lisa Smallwood; children, Howard Farley Jr., Ashley Farley (Christopher), Stacey Farley, and Katelyn Farley (Mark); mother of his children, Vickie Farley; grandchildren, Aiden, Hailey, Ryder, and Adelynn; and stepchildren, Courtney Smallwood, Joshua Smallwood, and Lisa Smallwood.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will be held privately.

  • My condolences to all the family members and those that loved Howard. From the short time that we worked together at Amtrak, we shared many mutual friends and had a comraderie that lasted till this day. The visit fom Howard, Gordy and John to my now home of Tucson brought us much joy and a lot of laughs. We shared an eternal bond that will be missed!
