Howard Oren “Hop” Parsons

September 18, 1964 - March 27, 2025

Howard Oren “Hop” Parsons, age 60, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 18, 1964, he was the son of Richard C. Parsons and the late Carroll Ann (Bacon) Parsons.  Hop went to Glasgow High School and graduated in 1982.  He was a carpenter by trade and was very talented at what he did.  Hop was a people person.  He loved talking to people and making new friends, and also loved making jokes.  Hop was a devoted sports enthusiast, he loved his Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.  Hop took great joy in coaching youth sports, including many memorable times for Bear Babe Ruth Baseball teams years ago.  Beyond sports, Hop loved traveling to Walt Disney World with his family and he enjoyed trying all of the different foods while visiting there.

Hop is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Ann (Vickers) Parsons; children, Samantha Migliavacca (Brian), Brendan Parsons (Kat), and Tyler Parsons (Allie); sister, Lea Ann Coulbourne (Mark); brother-in-law, Ron Vickers (Becky); nieces and nephews, Sarah Coulbourne, Ronnie Vickers, and Tori Biehl (Matt); father, Richard C. Parsons; mother and father-in-law, Ed and Yvonne Vickers; and step-grandson, Finn.  He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many special friends who all loved him.  His family and friends will forever cherish his vibrant spirit.  He was one of a kind.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery, 312 Bethel Cemetery Road, Chesapeake City, MD.  A celebration of life will follow interment at the Delaware City Fire Hall, Delaware City, DE.
