Hubert L. “Lazo” Murray, age 70, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023.

Born in the Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies, on December 12, 1952, he was the son of the late Alfred Murray and Bernice Bernard. A certified mechanic, Lazo spent over 20 years working as an operations technician for Christina School District until his retirement.

Lazo was a passionate soccer fan. Above all, he loved the Lord and his family.

In addition to his parents, Lazo was preceded in death by his brother, Conrad St. Rose. He is survived by his loving wife of over 43 years, Elsie (Martin) Murray; children, Leanna Murray and Lester Murray; siblings, Nicholas George, Mundy Melville, Antonia Roberts, and Joseph Gabriel; brothers-in-law, John Melville and Charles Roberts; and numerous sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Victory Worship Experience Church, 100 Wilton Boulevard, New Castle, DE 19720, where a funeral service will begin at 2 pm. Interment will be held privately.

  • I know it is so sad to let him go but we know that Lazo in a better place. Hold on to the great memories he created in his time here. His work is done, he is at rest. My prayer is that God will continue to shower His peace on the family and strengthen you all. In everything give thanks, even in those difficult moments.   • My wife Judith and I send our deepest condolences to the the family of Lazo. He was such a loving and peaceful person and will be missed by all. May the grace, peace and love of God continue to guard and favor the family. He lived a good life and that is a rich blessing to be passed on to those he left behind.
