Irene E. Mee

Irene E. Mee, age 75, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 21, 1949, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene (Anderson) Spillan. Irene was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and attended Gywnedd-Mercy College. She worked for various companies before starting her 35-year career as a secretary for New Castle County.

Irene is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Edward Francis Mee; son, Sean Mee (Joey); sister, Pamela Boyle (Steven); nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Jamie, Melissa, Matthew, Brian, Katie, Erin, Keith, and Patrick; brothers and sisters-in-law; and many dear friends.

Irene was creative and enjoyed her crafting. She loved to spend time at the shore, be it Delaware or New Jersey. She was happy and content relaxing at the beach, book in hand, savoring the sight, sound, and smell of the ocean. Add family and friends and Irene was in her Heaven on Earth. Irene worked long and hard. She was dedicated with an eye for detail, a terrific attitude and an infectious smile. Through work she made many life long friends. She will be remembered, amongst other things, for her laugh, a genuine, rich, joyful laugh. She lived her life finding the good in people. She was an exceptional, loving lady. Godspeed Irene, thank you, you will be missed.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Luke the Evangelist Church, 2316 Fairhill Avenue, Glenside, PA 19038, where a funeral Mass will begin at 11 am.
