Ivy Linette Jackson-Sharpe

May 6, 1949 - January 2, 2020

On Thursday, January 2, 2020, Ivy Linette Jackson-Sharpe, loving wife and mother passed away at 70 years old.

Born in Portland, Jamaica on May, 6, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Joel Brown and Esmie Thaxter.  Ivy worked at St. Francis Hospital as a nurse’s aide and truly enjoyed helping others.  For many years she loved working at Churchman’s Village as an activity director, retiring in May 2019.  Ivy had a kind and generous heart, always giving of herself.  Dedicated to her faith, she was a long time member of House of Refuge Ministries.

She is survived by her dedicated husband, Donald K. Sharpe, who besides being the love of his life was also his best friend and constant companion, along with their little dog, Cutie; 5 children, Wayne Davis (Dora), Dario Davis (Nikita), Karl Jackson (Rochelle), Michael Jackson and Sabrina Jackson; brothers, Leon, Alton, Clinton, Rabel and Courtney; sisters, Lorraine and Yona; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday, January 10, 2020, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE.  A second visitation will be held from 8 am until 9 am on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Church of God Prophecy, 104 Morrison Avenue, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 9 am.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ivy’s memory to House of Refuge Ministries, 200 Jestan Blvd., New Castle, DE 19720.
