James Alvin Turner, Jr.

James Alvin Turner, Jr., age 74, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025.
Born in Chester, PA on September 3, 1950, he was a son of the late James Alvin and Jeanne (White) Turner, Sr. James proudly served in the United States Air Force. He made his career as a security officer for the State of Delaware for 33 years until his retirement.
James was a member of the Delaware City Rec. Club and the American Legion Post 13. He enjoyed collecting war memorabilia and was a member of the Military Helmet Club, having many helmets of his own.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Turner (Cheryl). He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Carol Ellen Turner; siblings, Nancy Sellers (James), Barbara Hendrickson (Donald), and Patrcia Gillispie (Franklin); grandson, JD Orbis; and his dog, Buddy.
A committal service will begin at 11 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’ memory to the Delaware City Fire Company, P.O. Box 251, Delaware City, DE 19706.
