James F. “Ozzie” Arthurs

January 23, 1946 - November 30, 2017

James F. Ozzie Arthurs, age 71, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017.

Born in Wilmington, DE on January 23, 1946, Ozzie was the son of the late Franklin O. and Anna E. (Bromwell) Arthurs. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Ozzie made his career as an engineer with United Water, retiring after many years of service.

Active in his community, he was a life member of the Holloway Terrace Fire Co. and was the Senior Board of Director for the Terrace Athletic Club since 1971. In his spare time, Ozzie enjoyed playing shuffleboard and golfing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Arthurs Berkowitz. Ozzie is survived by his loving wife, Catherine L. (Harris) Arthurs; daughter, Amy E. Adams (Mike); sister, Evy K. Williamson (David); granddaughter, Elizabeth Berkowitz; and numerous nieces and nephews, including David Williamson, Jr., Pam Huhn (Paul) and Tammy Dias (Nick).

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 1 pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE,  where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holloway Terrace Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 684, Manor Branch, New Castle, DE 19720.
