James J. “Jimmy” Maggio, Sr.

February 13, 1954 - March 28, 2022

James J. “Jimmy” Maggio, Sr., age 68, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, March 28, 2022.

Born in Catania, Italy, on February 13, 1954, Jimmy was the son of the late Joseph A. and Anne (DeVito) Maggio. He enjoyed working on automobiles and made his career as an auto mechanic.

In his leisure time, Jimmy was always busy and enjoyed many things; tinkering, working on anything with a motor, helping people, time with friends, motorcycles and attending country music concerts are just a few. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda S. Maggio; and children, Brad Phipps and Angela Maggio. He is survived by his loving children, Victoria and her husband James (JB) Bullen of Newark, James J. Maggio, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD and William A. Maggio of Wilmington; grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, Tyler, Devon, and Lexas; great-grandchildren, Aubree and Lyla; and long-time partner and dear companion Joan Godwin.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm on Monday, April 4, 2022, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 7 pm. Interment will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North Dupont Highway, New Castle, DE.
