Jan Harrison - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Jan Harrison

In the early morning hours of Friday, June 25, 2021, we lost our beloved husband and father, Jan Harrison.

Jan was born in Scranton, PA to Janet and John Harrison. He moved to Wilmington, DE at a young age. He was a graduate of DelCastle Technical High School. During his younger years, Jan was very active in the Scouts, earning his Eagle Scout badge.

During high school, Jan worked at Charcoal Pit where he met who would become the love of his live, Yvonne. They began dating after several years of flirting and being friends before realizing they were meant to be together. They married in November of 1977. Starting their life out together, Jan began his career with General Motors, where he would retire after 30 years as a Line Coordinator.

Jan cherished the time he spent with his family, spending many summers with Yvonne and their son, Josh, at their timeshare in Myrtle Beach, SC. Jan and Yvonne also loved to travel to Las Vegas together to enjoy the shows and relax alongside the Bellagio pool.

One of the greatest joys of Jan’s life was spending time with his two grandchildren, carrying on the tradition of go carts and mini golf with them. He loved telling them about “his animals” and walking them through the woods and sharing stories of his beloved Golden Retriever, Sadie Girl.

Jan was preceded in death by his father, John Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Yvonne; son, Joshua (Jennifer); grandsons, Connor and Chance; mother, Janet; brother, Jay; nephew, Jay, Jr. (Anne-Marie); and great-nephews & niece, Brandon, Alyssa, Anthony, Frankie, and Jay. We will always cherish the memories and time we had with him.

Services and a Celebration of his life will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Jan’s love of animals to Renee’s Rescues, PO Box 1297, Hockessin, DE 19707 or online by clicking here.

I am very sad to hear of “Janny’s” passing. I still remember you and Mother (Phyllis) taking Jan and I to the first day of school at Krebs. We all grew up at such a wonderful time with so many memories of Glen Berne that have I have carried through the years. I can still hear you (Janet) calling “Jay Allen” and “Jan Steven” to dinner after we swam all day in our pool. Even though Jan is gone I will always have him in my heart. Love….Debbi
