Janice Schafferman Lewis

Janice Schafferman Lewis, age 90, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE on January 31, 1933, she was a daughter of the late William Clarence and Margaret Virginia (Williams) Drummond. Janice worked for L.B. McNatt as a realtor for 10 years. Following her retirement from real estate, she worked part-time at Copy Craft for 5 years.

In her spare time, Janice enjoyed bowling and playing cards. She loved going on trips to the beach as well as camping. Above all, Janice was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and never missed a chance to cheer on her beloved team.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Schafferman; second husband, Giacomo Lewis; son, Robert Schafferman, Jr.; siblings, Herbert Wesley Drummond, Sharon L. Powell, and Carl Drummond; brother-in-law, Donald Powell; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Drummond. She is survived by her children, Margie Allen (David), Karl Schafferman (Marion), and Richard Schafferman (Colette); stepdaughter, Clara Marie Tucker; siblings, Boone Drummond (Helen) and June McNatt (Louis); 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janice’s memory to Milford Church of God, 500 Walnut Street, Milford, DE 19963.
