Jeanette Pauline Berry - Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes & Crematory

Jeanette Pauline Berry

July 24, 1946 - July 5, 2026

Jeanette Pauline Berry, affectionately known as “Janet,” age 79, of Newark, DE, passed away at home on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Born in Norristown, PA, on July 24, 1946, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Andreyko) Guman. Janet was a dedicated registered nurse who practiced in a variety of clinical sites including maternity, intensive care, and surgical.

However, most of Janet’s career was dedicated to hemodialysis. She ran Brandywine dialysis in Wilmington, DE before taking over the unit at Wilmington Hospital. When Christiana Hospital opened in 1985, Janet was responsible for relocating the unit and continued to manage that location until retiring from Christiana Care. She always took great pride in caring for her patients and supporting her staff, just like she did with her family.

Janet also enjoyed owning and racing thoroughbred horses with her husband. She loved going on cruises, traveling with friends, and was always happy settling in to watch any horror movie she could find. She was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan passionately cheering on her birds during every game.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, David Louis Berry; daughter, Lisa A. Lowry (Christopher); and granddaughter, Veronica M. Lowry.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared by the family.

  • Dave, Lisa, Chris, and Veronica,
We were so sorry to hear of Janet’s death. She was such a good daughter, wife, mother, cousin, friend, nurse, and neighbor. We’ve heard those roles were only dwarfed by her role as Veronica’s grandmother. (Which started BEFORE Veronica was even born as evidenced by the lovely baby shower she threw for Lisa.)

Janet wore her heart on her sleeve. She loved her family and enjoyed life. Whether it was another trip to Las Vegas, a horse, a cruise or time with family, she made memories.

We hope all the good and funny memories will provide you some relief from your loss.
    Hugs,
    Karen Hartschuh and Rob Dixon
