Jennie Lynn (Bennett) Strickler

November 10, 1971 - September 29, 2019

          Jennie Lynn (Bennett) Strickler, age 47, of Elkton, MD and formerly of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019.

          Born in Wilmington, DE on November 10, 1971, she was a daughter of Martha L. (Cornog) Bennett and the late William H. Bennett.  Jennie earned her associates degree in nursing from Delaware Technical Community College.  She worked as a hospice nurse for Heartland Hospice and prior to that enjoyed her time as a psychiatric nurse.

          Jennie loved listening to music, especially rock and riding with Eric on the back of his motorcycle.  She adored her cats and watching cooking shows.  More than anything else, Jennie loved her husband and daughters and spending time with her beloved family.

          In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Stephanie Love Curlett.  Jennie is survived by mother, Martha; her husband, Eric J. Strickler; daughters, Lauren Brook Dykes and Haley Star Strickler; sister, LouAnn Bennett; best friend, Shannon Dawn Carter; and many nieces and nephews.

          A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 pm until 5 pm on Friday, October 11, 2019, at Ebenezer U.M. Church, 309 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, where a Celebration of Life will begin at 5 pm.  Interment will be held at a later date in Old Drawyers Cemetery.

          In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jennie’s memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation at JDRF, 26 Broadway, 14th floor, New York, NY 10004.

  • I’m not sure how to navigate this life without you, but I you will guide me from Heaven. The memories will remind me of the bond we have, and 46 years of time spent laughing, crying, listening to music, leaning on each other, marriages, births, losses, and joyful times. You will be missed everyday for the rest of my life. Save me a spot up there! Until we meet again….

  • In your life you meet a lot of people. Most are just acquaintances but there are those rare occasions you meet someone that you call a friend. You were as good a friend and person as anyone could ask for. You were there for me during the lowest point of my life and I never forgot it. You will be greatly missed and the memories I have of our times together will always be cherished.

I took a ride on the bike today to try to clear my mind but all I could think about was you riding on the back with me !!! I got so upset I turned the bike around and put it back in the garage.
