Jerry L. Reed, age 61, of Smyrna, DE, passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side on Friday, November 29, 2024.
Born in Dover, DE on October 2, 1963, he was a son of the late Clarence D. and Ann L. (Traverse) Reed. Jerry worked as a truck driver for various trucking companies throughout his career.
Jerry had many passions in his life. He enjoyed horseback riding, but also attending horse sales and auctions. Jerry liked to ride motorcycles and was a charter member of The Moose Riders. He was an avid deer hunter and found peace being outdoors. Despite his health, Jerry would always be there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and making memories that will live on.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Larry W. Reed and nephew, Kendall W. Reed. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Cathy L. Reed; siblings, Clarence D. Reed, Carol L. Eckler, Robert D. Reed, Sr. (Jennifer) and Ronnie J. Reed, Sr., all of Smyrna, DE; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. A second visitation will be held from 12 pm until 1 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the funeral home, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery, Caldwell Corner Road, Townsend, DE.
