Jill Kit Dietrich

September 23, 1971 - November 17, 2020

Jill Kit Dietrich, age 49, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020.

Born in Wilmington, DE on September 23, 1971, she was the daughter of Peter and Jeanette (Sczubelek) Kit. After graduating from St. Marks High School, Jill earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Ithaca College. She worked as a physical therapist beginning in Virginia at Physical Therapy Works then at Delaware Curative, Dynamic and Pivot Physical Therapy, all in Middletown.

Jill was the angel of her family and gave her heart and soul to everyone she met. She loved to help people and was a skilled and dedicated physical therapist. Her strong faith in God was evident in her position as a Eucharistic minister of Saint Joseph’s RC church where she was very involved and happily and readily volunteered at the carnivals and other events. Jill was adored by her friends and family. She loved gardening and the beauty that each season brought to their home. More than anything, Jill loved being a mother to her sons Kyle and Aiden. Jill found such joy in watching her boys excel in bowling, soccer, and volleyball. She also played Pokémon Go with them, cherishing each victory.

Jill is survived by her adoring husband of 22 years who has been her best friend and greatest supporter, Justin Dietrich; beloved sons, Kyle J. Dietrich and Aiden N. Dietrich of Middletown; adoring parents, Peter and Jeanette (Sczubelek) Kit of Wilmington; loving brother, Kevin M. Kit (Stephanie) of Knoxville, TN; aunt, Elaine Burrows (Jim) of Wilmington; uncle, Walter Sczubelek (Kathy) of Wilmington; nephews, Nathan Kit and Nolan Kit of Knoxville, TN; and cousins.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 pm until 5 pm on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jill’s memory to St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 371 E. Main Street, Middletown, DE 19709.

  • I had the pleasure of seeing Jill at family parties as our great neighborhood friends were her Aunt, Uncle and cousins. She was always so open, warm and had a big smile on her face that I still remember. When my Mom told me that Jill passed, she was crying and remembering seeing her 2 weeks prior at a soccer game. I can not express how sad I am for her parents, her husband, her sons, her family and friends. I just know that she was a bright light and amazing person that I had the pleasure of meeting.

  • I worked at DuPont with Jill’s mother, Jeannie, for many years. We had children growing up at the same time and spent many times sharing pictures and stories about our children’s lives (school, special events, etc.). I always enjoyed hearing about Jill and her brother, Kevin. My heart is broken for Jeannie and Pete and the rest of their family. May God bless all of you and give you peace as you focus on the many great memories of times spent with Jill through the years. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

  • I am so very sorry to hear about Jill’s passing. We went to St. Mark’s high school. Jill was always so very nice, we reconnected on social media over the years and it was great to see her at our reunions. She messaged me at one point regarding a physical therapy that I had a question about for someone in my family, and she private messaged me on what to do!! I got to see her a few years ago when my cousins son made Confirmation at St. Joseph. It was great to see all that she has done with getting the kids to play sports again, and how much she loved her kids and husband!! You all were her life, and now you all including her parents and brother have one very special angel watching over all of you!! You all are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. RIP Jill- you will me missed.
