Joan M. Thompson, age 83, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
Born in Wilmington on December 20, 1940, Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Marie (Quigley) Moore, Sr. She dedicated her life to caring for her family as a dedicated homemaker.
In her leisure time, Joan enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, singing, reading, sewing and knitting. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brother, John W. Moore, Sr. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, William E. Thompson; children, Mark E. Thompson, Sr. (Rose) and Diane M. Thompson; brother, Joseph A. Moore, Jr. (Liz); sister-in-law, Carolyn W. Moore; grandchildren, Nicole Price, Brittany Tyndall (Mark), Mark Thompson, Jr. (Jessica) and Marissa Kontos (Chris); and great grandchildren, Logan, Peyton, Madeline, Sofia and Kennedy.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
