Joanne Leager, age 90, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Born in Wilmington, DE on November 23, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Markle and Ruth L. (Martens) Toland. Joanne was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School with the class of 1953. She made her career for 30 years at Colonial National Bank, and later as a secretary at A.G. Wilson Law Firm until her retirement in 2008. Joanne was a proud 70-year member and past president of Naomi Rebekah Lodge #3.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Leager. She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl Wilson (Gary); grandchildren, Matthew Wilson (Jill) and Kathryn Mattheu (Stephen); and great-grandchildren, Maire Wilson, Logan Wilson, Lillian Mattheu, and Ruby Mattheu.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.
