Joanne Ruth Davis, age 87, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 15, 2021.

Born in Wilmington, DE on May 20, 1933, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Laura B. (Pennock) Sheen. Joanne graduated from William Penn High School in 1951 and was a member of New Castle United Methodist Church. She was a member of the William Penn High School Alumni, and she volunteered with the New Castle Library and the Emmanuel Dining Room. Joanne also was an honorary member of the “Cedarettes.” She loved to read, enjoyed gardening and caring for her many indoor plants. Joanne was happiest when spending time with her family. She will always be fondly remembered as a generous soul who shared her loving kindness, warm humor and positive attitude with her family and her wide circle of friends throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Davis and sister, Rebecca Elliott. She is survived by her children, Pamela L. Pierson of North East, MD, Kenneth J. Nunes (Tina) and Laura M. Garver, both of Wilmington; grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Anna, Leneigh and Samuel; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Isabelle and Ireland; and nieces, Cheryl, Vicki, and Michele.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Face masks will be required for all in attendance. Services and interment will be held privately.

  • Miss Davis was a beautiful person inside and out . She was a truly an extraordinary woman and admired by everyone who knew her. I will love her. Now she is an angel in heaven .
