Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 Noon on Monday, August 29, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City. A committal service will follow at 1 pm at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

Mr. John Edward McVey (“Jack”), age 67, of Delaware City, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Christiana Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.

A native Delawarean, Jack was born in Wilmington on February 22, 1944, son of the late Joseph A. McVey, Jr. and Regina Sikorski. He served in the US Navy. He was an electrician with the IBEW.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph A. McVey II. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Yvonne; his daughters, Jacklyn McVey (Ceasar), Kelly McVey, and Frances Ann Ramos (Drew), all of Delaware City; his sisters, Mary Ann Spence of Newark and Barbara McCarter (Sonny) of Port Penn; his brothers, James McVey (Jan) of New Castle and Ralph McVey (Linda) of Newark; his sister-in-law, Patricia McVey of New Smyrna Beach, FL; his grandchildren, who were his greatest pride and joy, Kenya, Ruthann, Nathan, Trey, Thomas, Lillian, Elaina, Ceasar, Ciara, and Andrew; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 304 Christopher Dr., Seaford, DE 19973.
