John F. Kirkpatrick, Jr.

March 8, 1941 - March 6, 2023

John F. Kirkpatrick, Jr., age 81, of Earleville, MD, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE on March 8, 1941, he was the son of the late John F. and Elsie (Spinden) Kirkpatrick, Sr. John proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He spent his career working and ultimately retired from both the Wilmington Police Department as well as Capitol Police for a total of 38 years of public service.

John spent his spare time fishing, boating, and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Connell. He is survived by his loving wife, Flora A. (Slavin) Kirkpatrick; children, Cheryl Lynn Gamble (Michael), Carol Lea Czerwinski (James), Floralinda Kirkpatrick, and Jacqulyn Beaston (Steffanie); grandchildren, Beth Ann (Charles), Nicholas (Jen), Alexander, Timothy, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Noelle, MaKyla, Kaylyn, Briyanna, and Ahmyah; sister, Robin Ann Broomell (Dennis); sister-in-law, Patricia Boulden; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
