John F. Reid

John F. Reid, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

Born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada on April 29, 1932, he was a son of the late Melville and Hilda (Layzell) Reid. John proudly served in the United States Air Force. He made his career as a carpenter and the owner of Reid and Son until his retirement.

John enjoyed being a member of Old Farts on Ski’s as well as Millcreek Lions Club. He was also a member of the First State Riders. John loved spending his free time riding his motorcycle, a Honda Gold Wing.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Agnes (Willard) Reid; daughter, Susan R. DelleDonne; and son-in-law, Richard Francisco, Jr. He is survived by his children, Donna R. Francisco and Michael J. Reid; son-in-law, Thomas DelleDonne; grandchildren, Richard Francisco III, Kristin Andrews (Roger), Jonathan Francisco (Julieta), William Francisco, Thomas Francisco, Kathryn Francisco, Jeremy Reid, and Casey Reid; great-grandchildren, Francesca Andrews, Ryland Andrews, Axel Aguilar, Miles Francisco, Audrey Francisco, and Vincent Francisco; and sister, Diane Labrie.

A committal service will begin at 1 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
