Joseph F. “Joe” McCarthy
March 21, 1938 - January 2, 2021
Mr. Joseph F. “Joe” McCarthy, age 82, of Newark, DE, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
Born in St. Clair, PA on March 21, 1938, he was a son of the late Peter F. and Dorothy McCarthy. He dedicated 26 years of service as a Mail Sorter for the U.S. Postal Service, then retired. Joe enjoyed watching Western movies and being a family man in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Donald. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gladys (Oswald) McCarthy; son, Peter; brothers, Robert McCarthy of Delaware, Francis McCarthy (Barbara) of Hershey, PA, and Ray McCarthy (Jane) of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
All services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s memory to Holy Family Catholic Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713.
