Joseph “Joe” Mazza
September 1, 1974 - August 23, 2025
Joseph “Joe” Mazza, passed away at his home in Wilmington, DE on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the age of 50.
Joe was born in Chester, PA on September 1, 1974, but spent his high school years and adulthood as a long-time Delawarean. He was a graduate of Hodgson Vo-Tech and spent his career as an electrician.
Joe was an up-for-anything, ready-to-have-a-good-time, life-of-the-party, memorable guy. To meet him once was to know him for a lifetime. He was an ornery, prankster who could always make you laugh. Everyone has a “Joey story”. Joe was definitely the “fun uncle”. To all the kids who knew him (a.k.a. “crumb bums”), he was “Uncle Joey”. He was with his nieces for every snowstorm, every party, and every one of their milestones. He was a dog rescuing, bike riding, amazing cook that would always surprise you.
He loved Chrissy, his family, and his friends very much. He stayed involved in his neighborhood, helping neighbors out, being there when they needed something, and inviting them for a good meal. His favorite place was the Delaware beaches and the Jersey shore. He enjoyed relaxing on the beach.
Joe is survived by his partner of 20 years, Chrissy Mairs; his pup, Lulu; mother, Christine Mazza; brother, Dominic Mazza (Sharlene); and two nieces, Akayla Mazza-Burlace (Justin Burlace) and Carmela Mazza (Joab Olsen). He was preceded in death by his father, Leonardo “Leo” Mazza.
There are lots of “Joeyisms”. Unfortunately, we mentioned that he was ornery and many cannot be shared in mixed company. So, come join us for a celebration of Joe’s life to share his “stories” and his “isms” on Sunday, August 31, 2025 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at White Clay Creek Country Club (by Delaware Park), 879 Delaware Park Blvd, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Faithful Friends, 165 Airport Road, New Castle, DE 19720 or online by clicking here.

I have to agree once you meet Joey you never forgot him. He played many jokes on me the Best was at his nieces wedding he rented a bear costume that looked so real i almost pasted out!!! He also was very crafty with medal, wood etc. I have a very special Nativity set he hand carved for me… Love you Joey from here to heaven…
