Julio M. Salas

December 19, 1932 - December 24, 2020

Julio M. Salas, age 88, of Margate, FL, formerly of Newark, DE, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020.

Born in Puerto Rico on December 19, 1932, he was a son of the late Julio F. and Luz Borrero Salas, Sr. Julio served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1994 after 22 years as a mailer and typesetter and union shop steward for the News Journal. Julio was a dedicated member of the Newark Senior Center and Holy Family Church. He was a good guy, and will be missed dearly by many.

In addition to his parents, Julio is preceded in death by his wife, Judith R. Salas and brother, James T. Salas. He is survived by his son, Mark C. Salas of Margate, FL; siblings, Joseph A. Salas of Miami, FL, Luz E. Perez of Groveland, FL, America Salas of PennBrook Pines, FL, and Lillian Toth of Cooper City, FL; 2 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 noon until 3 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, followed by a funeral service at 3 pm. Interment will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington. Face masks will be required for all in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julio’s memory to Holy Family Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE 19713.

  • It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Juilo. Matthews Road has not been the same since is moving to Florida, he was a neighbor that cared deeply for all those he came in contact with. His wisdom will surely be missed from all that knew him. Goodbye my friend.
