Kathleen Kennedy “Kitty” Hart
December 11, 1941 - March 4, 2026
Kathleen Kennedy “Kitty” Hart, age 84, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Born in Wilmington, DE on December 11, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Gladys (Thistlewood) Kennedy. Kitty was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School. She attended nurses training and worked in the office of Doctor Cordova before marrying. After her children finished high school, she worked as a receptionist at Ethan Allen Furniture as well as JR Gettier & Associates.
Kitty was a lifelong equestrian. She shared her passion with her sister and daughter, often enjoying rides throughout Fair Hill. Kathleen also loved traveling to explore new places around the world with her husband, William. She was a devoted Christian and member of New Life Church in Wilmington. Her faith led her to serve others quietly, without title or acclaim. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Crisis Pregnancy Center, Code Purple, and Newark Rotary Club. Kitty will always be remembered for her strength and perseverance, and greatly loved for her kindness.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Hart; daughter, Gayle K. Hart; and twin sister, Elaine K. Hearne. She is survived by her sons, William Hart and David Hart, daughter in law Eliana; and grandsons, Tomas Hart and Lukas Hart.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12:30 pm on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12:30 pm. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kitty’s memory to the Able Ministers Ministries Inc., P.O. Box 11904, Wilmington, DE 19805.

Kitty Hart was one of the first persons to support our missionary work back in 1990. What a rare and unique woman she was. Kitty very seldom if ever talked about herself. She was more interested in others. Much seed has been sown on foreign lands to bless many with salvation, healing and deliverance because of Kitty’s faithfulness. Although we celebrate her going home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ we will miss her greatly. I will see you again one day dear friend and we shall rejoice together.

And it, a words cannot express the amazing person that you are. You lived your life with a purpose and help the people around you when they fell down to help get them back up and on their feet. You always offer kind words and encouragement of love. Just say the Hart family will miss you as a true understatement.

I knew Kathleen in 1963 or ’64 when we were students at the U. of Del. and were in the same night school class held at P.S. Our economics class got out fairly late and occasionally I would give Kathleen a ride home after class. I remember her as a truly lovely person who told me about her equestrian activities and strong commitment to her faith. I was happy to read that Kathleen lived a fulfilling and productive life with the joys that having a family and a strong faith bestow. R.I.P.

A life well lived. What a beautiful example Mrs. Kitty left of faith, service and generosity. The legacy she left lives on through her kids and grandkids. May you rest in knowing she’s in perfect peace with her beloved Lord and Savior. May you find strength in her example and may the Lord comfort you.

To the family of Kitty Hart,
I am Kitty’s Goddaughter, Patty Clancy Pruitt. My parents were Connie and Jack Clancy of Wilmington. They were friends when I was born in 1961; and that is how Kitty became my Godmother. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Kitty was the most approachable, warm hearted person. She made connections with people so easily and made you feel like family. She had a strong faith in the Lord God, our holy Father. I will miss her bible verses in our hand written letters. I live in Florida. I truly wish I could pay my respects in person but I just found out tonight that she passed. Sincerely, Patty

I met “Aunt Kitty” about three years ago, on a visit with her niece, Linda Travers.
“Aunt Kitty” welcomed me into her home and I felt like we’d known each other for years.
She was a woman of faith, and we “clicked.” I will miss her and will keep her memory alive in my heart.
To paraphrase the traditional Irish Blessing —,May the Lord hold her in the hollow of His hand.”

A heart like hers
A life of grace, a hand to lend.
A faithful servant, a constant friend.
She loved her God and gave to all,
Answering every kindness with call.
Though she has found her heavenly rest,
The love she gave remains our best,
In love and memory of Kitty Hart.
