Kathleen V. Henry, age 76, of Middletown, DE, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Born in Jamaica on February 12, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Author and Sarah (Reid) Black. Kathleen attended Tollgate Primary, followed by Glenmuir High School, and finished her education at Baruch College where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a nurse at Christiana Care Hospital.

A passionate cook, Kathleen found happiness in the kitchen. Her love of travel carried her to new places and cultures throughout her life. Whether sharing a homecooked meal, planning the next adventure, or simply laughing with family and friends, Kathleen embraced life fully and wholeheartedly.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Melvin Henry; and brothers, Carlton Black, Leroy Black and Winston Black. She is survived by her sister, Yvonne M. Black; brother, Harley C. Black; nieces, Janet, Paulah, Marsha and Stacey; nephew, Robert H. Black; God-daughter, Joiselle Cunningham; along with grand-nieces and nephews, close cousins and many very good friends.

A memorial service for family and friends will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1125 Jamison Corner Road, Middletown, DE 19709. Inurnment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, 451 Port Penn Rd, Middletown, DE.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathleen’s memory to the New Covenant Presbyterian Church, at the address listed above.

    In 1960 or somewhere there, when Kitty was 10 years old and I was 12, we danced together at a Toll Gate,St James Anglican Church Party and we won First prize with a gift from Mr.Lewey the deacon of the church who planned the party. Oh!!!!
    I’ll never forget that party. It was on a Weekday.
