Kathryn K. Roy, age 86, of Landenberg, PA, passed on Tuesday, February 14, 2012.
Born in South Norwalk, CT, on September 18, 1925, Kathryn was the daughter of the late Joseph Francis and Kathryn Elizabeth Kovac. She was a 1943 graduate of Norwalk High School. After completing radiology school in New York City, Kathryn was employed as an x-ray technician at Stamford and Norwalk Hospitals in CT, where she worked for many years.
Active in her community, she volunteered her time and talents with many organizations, including, Downes Elementary and Newark High Schools, as a denmother with Cub Scouts of Newark, Little Sisters of the Poor, Holy Angels R.C. Church, Meals on Wheels, and Hope Dining Room. Kathryn enjoyed knitting, needlepoint, crosstitching, and reading in her leisure time. She loved spending time with her grandaughter, McKenzie, and the two especially liked to watch Nick Jr. programs together.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, Kenneth L. Roy, Sr. in 2009. She is survived by her son, Kenneth L. Roy, Jr., and his wife, Deborah, of Landenberg, PA; granddaughter, McKenzie Roy; and her trusted companions, Louie, Puddy, Jules, Angel, and Annie.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Chapel of All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow in the cemetery.
