Kenneth G. McNeil, age 61, of Newark, DE, formerly of Cupertino, CA, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Leithbridge, Alberta, Canada on January 30, 1950, Ken moved with his family as a young boy to the United States, settling in California. He was employed with the Siemans Corporation for 38 years and currently held the position of Director, Vista Product Management, Global Marketing in Newark, DE. During a career marked by many successes and accomplishments, he was most proud of his role as a mentor, helping many of his colleagues to achieve both personal and professional goals.
Ken was a devout and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Bishop of the Newark Third Ward and the former Christiana Ward for the past five years. Admired greatly for his personal warmth and kindness, he truly lived his calling and was a blessing to the many people he served. A devoted family man as well, he delighted especially in spending time with his beloved wife and children.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Melba O. Savage McNeil. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Liza Kay Walker McNeil; children, Elizabeth Ann Ringler (Michael) of Newark, DE, Martin Thomas McNeil and Duncan Edwin McNeil of Provo, UT, and Rory Stewart McNeil and Walker Stephen McNeil of Newark, DE; father, Harold J. McNeil of Modesto, CA; and siblings, Cheryl R. Wheaton of Modesto, CA, Byron J. McNeil of Showlow, AZ, Bettyann Weber of Modesto, CA, Donald S. McNeil of Brookline, NH, and Jeffrey H. McNeil of San Jose, CA.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 500 W. Chestnut Hill Road, Newark, DE, where visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will be held privately in Acacia Memorial Park, Modesto, CA.
