Kenneth Wayne “Pooh Bear” Simpers, Sr.

May 20, 1960 - January 12, 2020

           Kenneth Wayne “Pooh Bear” Simpers, Sr., age 59, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

          Born in New Castle, DE on May 20, 1960, he was a son of the late Thomas and Marion L. (Latham) Simpers.  Kenny worked as a parts specialist with Delaware Auto Salvage for over 25 years. 

          A Harley Davidson enthusiast, he found joy in riding his bike.  Kenny was a member of Showtime Warriors and ABATE of Delaware.  He enjoyed wood-working, barbeque and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.  Kenny will always be remembered as a prankster with a great sense of humor.

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joanna Lee (Hayes) Simpers; daughter, Angel Lee Simpers; and siblings, Pete Simpers and Dixie Lee Esposito.  Kenny is survived by his children, Beth M. Simpers, Kenneth W. Simpers II (Audrey), Kelly L. Simpers (JR), Nikkie L. Simpers (Dakota); brother, Thomas M. Simpers (Theresa); 13 grandchildren; god daughter, Ashley Harrison (Drew); aunt, Mildred Latham Weirsbicki; companion, Jeannetta Howell; and former son-in-law, Chris Bogia, Sr.

          A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 12 noon on Monday, January 20, 2020, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720, where a funeral service will begin at 12 noon.  Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.  Bikers are encouraged to join in one last ride with Kenny.

          In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to assist with funeral expenses to Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home at the address listed above.
