Born in Geisenheim, Germany on October 7, 1938, he was raised in nearby Rudesheim am Rhein a son of the late Jakob Karl Weis and Anna Maria (Becker) Czurley. As a child, Kurt started his life-long love of John Wayne movies, which helped him learn how to speak English. His mom remarried Walter Czurley, a U.S. Air Force serviceman, and moved to the U.S in 1952, where Kurt and his mom became U.S. citizens. Kurt proudly served his country in the Delaware Army National Guard for 11 years. After completing his apprenticeship at Clarence Burris & Sons, he made his career as a bricklayer for Alton F. Neal, Ben Dutcher, Rose Hill Builders and then Diamond State Masonry. Active in his Roman Catholic faith, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and did work for Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church. Kurt was also a member of the Rod & Gun Club and a lifetime member of St. Gabriel’s Lodge. He loved watching NASCAR and Phillies games, and listening to Johnny Cash. Kurt was also a CB enthusiast and loved tinkering in his garage or working on projects around the house. He will be lovingly remembered for his sense of humor, as he was always joking or teasing with someone.

In addition to his parents, Kurt was preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter Czurley; and brother, Karl. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Weis; children, Kurt Weis, Jr. (Carol Whitzell), Harry Weis (Linda), and Kristine Immel (Mark); and grandchildren, Matthew Welch, Ashley Whitzell, Natalie Jackson, and Travis Jackson.
