Lance L. Lawson
December 9, 1975 - August 15, 2024
Lance L. Lawson, age 48, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Born in Johnstown, PA, on December 9, 1975, he was the son of Mike Lawson and the late Lois Lash. Lance later moved to New Castle where he became a household name. Everyone in New Castle seemed to know Lance. He could outrun any kid on the block or any man on his motorcycle. But most of all, Lance was known for the way he loved Angie and his children.
Lance started his career as a handyman. He later became a skilled roofer, working with his father, before obtaining his CDL license. He spent his recent years driving cross country in a tractor trailer or handling concrete and dump trucks with ease.
There was never a dull moment around Lance with his contagious laugh, action-packed adventures and hilarious jokes he would share while having a smoke. Lance was a tough man but had a heart of gold. He was a pet lover and would often show up with a pet after he fell in love with a new one. The family had countless beloved pets over the years.
In his spare time, Lance enjoyed listening to music and attending Rock and Roll concerts with his son, Zachary. He took frequent road trips with his family in support of his daughter, Alyssa’s love of anime or Angie’s desire for Wahlburgers. Lance could often be found sitting next to his father playing and WINNING on the slot machines or watching the horses run at the local casinos. Lance was also an avid history buff who loved watching historical documentaries and talking with his children about his favorite periods of history.
Lance was preceded in death by his biological mother, Lois Lash; and his maternal grandmother, Mary Segar. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Susan Lawson; his best friend and longtime love of over 30 years, Angie Hetzler; children, Zachary Hetzler and Alyssa Hetzler of Middletown, DE; along with his seven siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends from every chapter of his life.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 pm until 1 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 1 pm. Inurnment will be held privately.
