Larry Barnes Evans, age 84, of Odessa, DE, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Born in Ontario, Canada on December 10, 1941, he was the son of the late Harold and Eileen (Grandy) Evans. Larry was a starting lineman at Wake Forest and then he enlisted into the Marines to serve our country. He was proud to have quickly climbed the ranks to become a Sargent. After he was successfully discharged, he received a scholarship to play football at West Virginia Wesleyan. He graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan in 1965, with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Larry grew to be a very successful, hardworking, intelligent and motivated business man.
Larry was a man of faith. He was an avid sports fan; not just watching, but playing as well. He was a loyal Philadelphia Eagles fan! Larry looked forward to golfing with his buddies and catching up with his old friends and teammates. He loved a good game night with his daughter, granddaughters and great grandchildren. Larry was a self-proclaimed hamburger critic, indulging in a delicious burger any chance he could. Also, an animal lover; Larry adored his standard poodle, Lilly Belle.
More than anything else, Larry will be remembered as a happy and devoted family man, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. Nothing brought him more enjoyment than watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren learn and grow. He never missed an opportunity to spend genuine quality time with his family.
