Larry Louis Smith, lovingly referred to as “The Legend”, age 57, of New Castle, DE, was finally called home by God on Monday, January 30, 2023, following a work accident on September 4, 2022.
Born in Wilmington, DE on June 11, 1965, he was a son of the late Ralph E. and Theresa I. (Eisenhaurer) Smith. Larry spent 17 years working at Del-Campo Bakery, he then began his career at New Castle County as a motor equipment operator for 22 years.
Larry’s passion in life was cars, he enjoyed spending his spare time working on them and took pride in his ’74 Challenger. He was a kind person who would help anyone and touched many lives. Larry never met a stranger; he was very personable and you couldn’t help but like him. He had many friends that were more like family. Above all, Larry’s biggest love in life were his family and friends, he cherished every moment that he spent with them.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Tim Smith. He is survived by his loving wife and lifetime partner of 36 years, Sharon (Krautter) Smith; daughter, Sarah Smith; grandchildren, who were pop pop’s world, Carter and Olivia Ward; brother, Robert Smith (Ann); sister-in-law, Patty Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 1 pm on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Services and interment will be held privately.
