Laura E. Bedford, age 51, of Newark, DE passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, October 8, 2013.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware on February 27, 1962, Laura was the daughter of Junior Norris and Virginia Wimmer Barbor. She was employed as a scanning coordinator for Shop Rite for over 33 years. Laura was a dedicated and well-respected coworker.
A kind and giving person, she was a loyal and wonderful friend to many. She held a special place in her heart for animals. Above all, she will be remembered as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Norris and her stepfather, Fred Barbor. She is survived by her beloved husband of 23 years, Raymond Bedford; mother, Virginia; daughter, Jaclyn Bedford (J.D.); stepsons, Curtis Bedford, Chuck Bedford (Natalie), and Jason Bedford (Jenn); sister, Rosalie Lacey (Patrick); 7 grandchildren, Jacelyn, Cole, Alexis, Nadia, Owen, Tyler, and Adalyn; niece, Renae; and nephew, Eric.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, October 14, 2013, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE where friends and family may call from 10 am until 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

    I will never forget you and I will miss you . You were truly one of the kindest and most genuine friends in my life . You never had a bad word about or towards anyone , only soft spoken honesty . I will miss you and missed working together . You , Claire , and I had so many laughs and fun in our days at work and out together socially . I know you will be watching over Jacs and your beautiful grand daughter Jacelyn, she couldn’t ask for a better angel . We will be looking out for her too Laura . Rest in peace friend , I love you .

  • Laura from the first day I started at Newark shoprite(16 yrs ago) you were always so nice, and careing. While other people were snobby u weren’t. it was like u stood out from the others And what made me always feel a special bond, together, was when I saw a picture of jaci near ur computer ( I think she was in elemeentry school at the time )first. I thougelf. I will be a proud mom like that one day, which I am today after 4 kids. You were always down to earth. And ur love for jaci I will always remember. You are a great person.
