Laura Piccolomini Congdon

Died February 27, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the loss of Laura Piccolomini Congdon, who passed unexpectedly on February 27th, 2023.

Laura was born in Penns Grove, NJ and called many places home over the years. Her love of animals moved her to volunteer with the Georgetown SPCA, focusing her time on fundraising and finding placements for homeless pets. Laura opened her home to many strays and rescued pets over the years. She was an avid gardener and found a place of peace amongst her plants and veggies as well as dipping her toes into the ocean at the beach.

Laura leaves behind a family whom she loved and was recently excited to welcome her first grandson into the world and take on the nickname “Gigi”. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Barbara Piccolomini and maternal and paternal grandparents. Laura is survived by her husband, William Congdon; mother, Susan Lee (Jim); father, John Piccolomini; daughter, Alex Kotowski (Brandon); grandson, Logan Kotowski; siblings, John Piccolomini Jr. and Dawn Barry (John); step siblings, Michele Logan (Kenneth), Andy Zakorchemny (Deserie) and Chris Burrell (Brian); as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

A private service is planned and a public memorial service will be announced in the future.  For more information about the memorial service, please sign the guest book below with your contact information.

  • My poem for Laura

    SHE”LL BE OKAY
    The day after Laura passed
    I knew she’d be okay
For I saw a little robin
    On top of my Chevrolet*

    I drew a little closer
    She didn’t fly away
    She was chirping and singing
And I knew she’d be okay

I’m sure this was a sign
On that sad and dreary day
She wanted to let us know
    That she would be okay.

    * (it’s a Ford but it rhymes)
