Lavinia L. Allen

Lavinia L. Allen, age 91, of Townsend, DE, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024.

Born in Elkton, MD, on October 2, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Katherine (Chadwick) Jones. Lavinia made her career as a licensed practical nurse at Little Sisters of the Poor.

A talented cook, Lavinia loved to treat her family and friends to a delicious meal. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her flower garden. Above all, Lavinia cherished the memories she made with her beloved family.

In addition to her parents, Lavinia was preceded in death by her son, Donald Johnson. She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, James E. Allen; children, Paul Johnson, Debbie Gravely, Beverly Barone, Robin Foraker, Cindy Walters, Lynnanne Heck, Kristin White, Jayne Stamberger, and Melinda Pogar; sister, Darlene; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. A committal service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
