Lee Roy “Mike” Tibbett III

Lee Roy “Mike” Tibbett III, age 70, of Dover, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE on January 22, 1953, he was a son of the late Lee Roy and Margaret (Wedman) Tibbett, Jr. Mike had a lifelong career in the glass industry, first starting with his father’s business, Mike’s Glass. He later branched out and started his own business, Commercial Glass. Mike ended his glass career with A.R. Myers Glass where he worked for 12 years before retiring in April of 2022.

In his spare time, Mike enjoyed watching old westerns and playing with his fur baby, Maverick.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Gustave Tibbett. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Virginia “Ginny” (Wyatt) Tibbett; children, Lee Roy Tibbett IV (Ami), Matt Tibbett (Cheryl), Jeff Tibbett, and Dusty Tibbett; former wife, Gail Bryer; sisters, Mary T. Casper (Pete), Debora Roberson (Tom), and Sherrie J. McCracken (Ralph); grandchildren, Madison, Jack, and Emma; and aunts, Doris Crabtree and Kay Conley.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 1 pm on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Mike about 8 years ago while he was working at A.R.Myers Glass. I am a window tinting subcontractor that was hired and we became friends. Mike would bring his personal vehicles to us to get tinted and i met his wife and son Dusty. We always teased each other, but the man knew alot about glass. I will miss him.
