Lee Roy Sayne, age 86, of Bear, DE, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Born in Maryville, TN on September 12, 1939, he was a son of the late Emanuel Wilbur and Gussie (Price) Sayne.  Lee worked at Chrysler for 35 years.  Following retirement, he worked for Holy Family in maintenance for 10 years.  He will always be remembered for his generosity to help his friends and family as well as his love for working on cars. Most of all, Lee loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and staying active in anything they did.  In his spare time, he enjoyed staying active in his church and doing crossword puzzles and sudoku, the harder the better.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice (Barron) Sayne; daughter, Charlene “Cissy” Sayne; siblings, Eugene Sayne, Ralph Sayne, Beulah Sayne, Ruby Beatrice Means, Charlotte Lowe Stockdale, and Son-in-Law George Dougherty. He is survived by sister, Judy Moshier (Scott); his children, Stacey Dougherty, and Robert Sayne; grandchildren, George Dougherty II (Ashleigh), Katie Johnson (Erik), Brittany Dougherty (Alex); great-grandchildren, Ivy Johnson, Ember Johnson, William Katorkas, and soon to arrive George Dougherty III.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
