Lena Mae Damiano

April 27, 1937 - April 25, 2025

Lena Mae Damiano, age 87, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully, on Friday, April 25, 2025.

Born in Wilmington, DE on April 27, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Florence M. (Petrucci) Drummond. Lena was a graduate of Wilmington High School. She worked at Continental Can Co. as well as Chase Bank.

Lena was a lifetime member of the Minquadale Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary, where she enjoyed working with her lifelong friends. She was a diehard Philadelphia Phillies fan, which she inherited from her mother and could often be found cheering on her beloved team. She enjoyed playing board games such as Scrabble and card games with family and friends. Lena always looked forward to having her friends over to create ceramics. Most of all, Lena loved spending time with her grandchildren. Taking them to places such as the movies, Kahuna Ville, Cow Town, fishing and crabbing. She really enjoyed having squirt gun fights with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Elmer and Florence, Lena was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph A. Damiano Sr.; son, James Anthony Damiano; and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her children, Robert “Dom” Damiano (Kay) of Middletown, DE and Joseph A. Damiano Jr (Debbie) of Lakeville, MN; grandchildren, Dustin (Elise), Kyle (Caitlin), Sarah (Zach), Kayla (Cody); great-grandchildren, Brynlee and Hunter; siblings, Elizabeth Ann Pierce and Rickie Drummond.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 12 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

A special thank you to Hospice, Newark Manor Nursing Home and Serenity Gardens Assisted Living.
