Leo G. McGovern

Leo G. McGovern, Jr., age 71, of Newark, DE, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
Born on September 27, 1947, he was a son of the late Leo G. McGovern, Sr. and Margaret Hilbert McGovern. Leo worked for DuPont experimental station as a welder. He had a deep love for his family, especially his grandchildren. In his spare time, Leo enjoyed crabbing, hunting, fishing and cooking. His fondest memories were made while camping with his family. Leo will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary McClosky, Anne McGovern and George McGovern. Leo is survived by his daughters, Erin McGovern and Meredith McGovern; sister, Margaret Saiauskie-McGovern; and grandchildren, Jordan McGovern and Alivia A. Webb.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 2:30 pm. Interment will be held privately.
