Linda B. (Bunting) Twyford
January 10, 1953 - April 18, 2026
Linda B. (Bunting) Twyford, age 73, formerly of New Castle, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18th, 2026, after a brief illness. She was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend, and will be deeply missed by many.
Linda was born on January 10th, 1953 in Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from William Penn High School and Brandywine College. Linda married Douglas Twyford on September 24th, 1977 and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage before his death in 2023. Linda worked at Astra-Zeneca for over 30 years. Linda was a member of Asbury Methodist Church, then later became a member of New Castle Presbyterian Church with her husband. Linda was also a Scout Mom to Troop 34.
Linda loved her family, friends, animals, and traveling. She was always present for family gatherings where she would bring her big smile and make everyone feel welcomed. Linda could make anyone laugh and was never shy about getting up in front of a crowd. One of Linda’s favorite things was to travel with her husband, Doug, and her mother-in-law, Peg. Linda was a Francophile, was fluent in French, and enjoyed many trips to France (Ooh La La). When she was not traveling the world, she enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Oak Orchard. Linda also loved singing at church and karaoke, reading, and volunteering at the Delaware Humane Association. Linda had a fondness for Beagles and she and Doug rescued several throughout their lives.
Linda is survived by her sister, Susan Eckbold of New Jersey; her niece, Jessica Conto (Shane) of New Jersey; sister-in-law, Christine Twyford Fagles (Richard) of Delaware; nephew, Corey Fagles (Geneva) of Delaware; adopted son, David Strawbridge (Claudine); and many other beloved family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Doug; and by her parents, Robert T. Bunting and Anne E. “Betty” Bunting.
We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for all of the support and care provided to Linda by the staff and admin at ACTS Country House, Christiana Care at Wilmington, and Accent Hospice Care.
A memorial service will begin at 1 pm on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026, at New Castle Presbyterian Church, 25 East 2nd Street, New Castle, DE. Inurnment will be held privately.

We fondly remember Linda walking her tri-colored beagles here in Penn Acres. We had one of them too.

I was always happy to see Linda. She loved her time at the Hair Salon! We would talk about many things and she’d hang out for a change of scenery! I enjoyed her so much and was shocked at the news. I know how much she missed her husband and I’m happy they are now together. I learned through this obituary that we shared the same birthday. Although she called me Kathy, I never had the heart to change her mind. Rest in the peace that you truly deserve my friend… I’ll miss you!❤️

Susan I only knew your sister a short time, the time I spent with her at Country House I got to know how sweet & kind she was and what an animal lover she was! We spent lots of time talking about animals and enjoying funny animal videos and documentaries. I loved her sense of humor and sharp wit. She will be missed. Take care Susan, you’re in my prayers.
