Lois S. Hardy
October 6, 1933 - January 8, 2026
Lois S. Hardy, affectionately known as “Loie,” age 92, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
Born in Folsom, PA, on October 6, 1933, Loie was the daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn (Probst) Schneider. She dedicated her life as a devoted homemaker, lovingly caring for her family.
Loie’s greatest joy was her family. She loved knowing what all of her “ducks” were doing and took immense pride in staying connected to each of them. As a devoted Mom, Gran, and Great-Gran, she attended as many activities, events, and celebrations as possible, remaining present and engaged in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren for as long as she was able.
Highly social and full of life, Loie loved being out with friends—especially anywhere there was music. She formed many lifelong friendships through high school, the neighborhoods she lived in, coffee club, “sorority,” pinochle club, and later through the Red Hat Society.
For more than 30 years, she shared her life with her devoted companion, George. Together, they built a full and joyful life, staying deeply involved with family and friends and embracing each day with energy and joy.
She was a passionate Philadelphia Flyers fan and proudly passed that loyalty down through generations. Loie believed that true fans loved their team through both winning and losing seasons and had little patience for those who only cheered when it was easy.
Loie had a well-known love of desserts—especially chocolate and ice cream—and her favorite daily indulgence was an iced coffee from Dunkin’: iced coffee with caramel, mocha, cream, and sugar. She also loved the sun and, during warmer months, could often be found at the pool or the beach.
A dedicated wife, mother, Gran, Great-Gran, friend, and loving companion to George, she was the matriarch of her family. Her warmth, loyalty, and deep love will continue to be felt by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Loie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert K. Hardy; daughter, Patricia Adams; son-in-law, Richard M. LeBrun, Jr.; and brothers, Charles H. Schneider, Kenneth Schneider, and Ronald H. Schneider. She is survived by her loving companion of 30 years, George Hendrix; daughter, Linda S. LeBrun; son, Robert C. Hardy (Beverly); grandchildren, John D. Harkins (Amber), Kelly R. Harkins (Marlow), Corrine T. Peters (T.C.), Matthew T. Watson (Lauren), Michael K. Harkins (Joanna), and Lindsey M. Matthews (Marquis); great-grandchildren, Mariah, Jarrett, Jasmine, Kassity, Joziah, Makhi, Jeramiah, Zachary, Michael, Marcus, Olivianna, and Ophelia; and great-great-grandchildren, Addalynn Jane, Maverick, and Mya. She is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends whom she loved.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 275 East Main Street, Middletown, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, DE.

Linda, I’m so sorry for the loss of your mom! When we used to hang out in high school, I loved going over to your house cause your mom was so sweet and so much fun. Always happy and cheerful and made others feel the same way when they were around her.
May God welcome her to paradise.
