Born in Shenandoah, PA on January 21, 1933, she was the youngest of eight children of the late Adolph and Genevieve (Mocknis) Subach.
In 1952, Loretta married her Shenandoah sweetheart, Gerald Sporay and moved to Newark for his work. They bought their home in Brookside in 1955 and lived there until their passing. Loretta was proud of her Lithuanian heritage which she and Gerald instilled in their children. She enjoyed reading her Bible, entertaining, bowling, traveling, but most importantly, spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald Sporay (2019); brothers, Albert Subach, Clarence Subach, Adolph Subach, Jr., and Robert Subach; and sisters, Alberta Bertsch and Margaret Brazinsky. She is survived by their children; Dianne Brock (Gregory), Jerry Sporay, Jr., Elaine Wollaston (Martin), Bill Sporay (Anna), and Helmut Schwarzmann (Irmi); 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister, Delores Horney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Rd, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am. A committal service will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
The family extends its sincere appreciation for the assistance of staff from Home Instead, especially Rose, and Accent Care Hospice, whose help enabled Loretta to live at home as her health declined.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Loretta’s memory to Holy Family R.C. Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, DE, 19713.
