Lynn Ellis Nickle

April 30, 1952 - February 6, 2025

Lynn Ellis Nickle, age 72, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Born in Lowville, NY on April 30, 1952, she was a daughter of Mary (Cook) Ellis and the late Leon Stanley Ellis. Lynn began her career at Artisan’s Bank as a bank teller, and briefly left the company to raise her family and earn a degree from Goldey-Beacom College. She returned to Artisan’s Bank and worked as the director of facilities until her retirement.

Lynn enjoyed giving back to the local community and while working at the YWCA in Newark helped to lead the gardening project. She spent her time changing her yard into an array of unique flowers that would ensure blooms year-round while supporting native creatures. Lynn was a proud founder of the Women’s Investors of Newark. She was sure to bestow her sense of independence to her daughters while enjoying being a Grammy to the “Wood Pile.”

In addition to her father, Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Allen Nickle. She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Wood (Matthew) and Beth Twardus (Jeffrey); granddaughters, Megan Wood, Sarah Wood, and Laura Wood; mother, Mary Ellis; sisters, Lisette Shultis (Steven), Leslie Flager (Mark), and Laura Walker; and numerous extended family members and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. Interment will be held privately in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lynn’s memory to the Tri-State Bird Rescue, 170 Possum Hollow Road, Newark, DE 19711 or online by clicking here.
