Marcia H. Black

August 24, 1946 - March 17, 2022

Marcia H. Black, age 75, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 17, 2022.

Born in Waltham, MA on August 24, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Pauline (Straube) Vedock, Sr. In Marcia’s early years, she had a successful career as a registered nurse and stayed very interested in medical development and research throughout her life.

Following the arrival of her first daughter, she devoted herself to being a full-time mother. She was later blessed with three additional daughters and loved every second that she spent with her four children, who later expanded her love with four beautiful grandchildren and another expected in May. Marcia also enjoyed painting, drawing, traveling, and making every holiday special. She was completely selfless in her love for her family. No matter what life held, she was always there for them when they needed her.

In addition to her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by her siblings, Regina Glodzik and Walter Vedock, Jr. She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Orin L. Black; daughters, Julia Singleton (Kentner) of Rockville, MD, Mary Black of North Bethesda, MD, Sarah Van Stan (Jarrad) of Quincy, MA, and Lee Anne Haney (Scott) of Philadelphia, PA; sister Paula Ewing (Bill); and grandchildren Rachel Singleton, Henry Singleton, Blaise Van Stan, Sonia Van Stan, and Scarlett Haney.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on March 25, 2022, at Holy Angels Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place on March 29, 2022.
