Margaret A. “Peggy” Pierce, age 78, of Newark, DE, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 14, 2023.

Born in Wilmington, DE, on November 13, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Mary E. (Cloud) Williams. A proud graduate of Claymont High School Class of 1962, Peggy was a member of the basketball team and cheerleading squad. She was a devoted homemaker, and worked part-time at the McNelis Hallmark store in Newark.

Peggy loved dancing, especially the jitterbug. She met her future husband, Bob, at a dance at the New Century Club. Peggy enjoyed traveling with her husband, collecting sea shells and Elvis memorabilia, and following the University of Delaware Blue Hens women’s basketball team. Above all else, she treasured being supportive of her family and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, William R. “Bob” Pierce. She is survived by her children, Mary Pierce-Cass (Brian) and William R. Pierce II (Jennifer); and granddaughters, Jenessa and Melanie.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 11 am on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am. A committal service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

Will always remember our overnight camping at Ashland Nature Center with my class (Betsy’s group). Fun memories of card playing after the kids were settled and Bob and Peggy cooking pancakes for the crew the next morning 🥰 🙏❤️
