Margaret Louise Stevenson, age 76, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed peacefully in her sleep on December 7th, 2023.

Born April 28, 1947 in Chester, Pennsylvania, Marge grew up in Newark and graduated from Christiana High School. She worked at Happy Harry’s as a cosmetician and the Ronson Corporation where she met her husband, William. They settled in Oxford, Pennsylvania and started a family, where her children won ribbons for her hand sewn costumes in the baby parade of the Southern Lancaster County Community fair. They moved to Birmingham, Alabama for a job transfer, before returning to Hockessin. While in Birmingham, Marge started tole painting wooden crafts and continued that back in Hockessin, participating in many community craft shows. After her children grew up, Marge returned to working as a cosmetician at Happy Harry’s (Walgreens), where she once helped then Senator Joe Biden find deodorant, and told him, “You know, you look just like Joe Biden”. He replied, “Miss, I am Joe Biden”. While retired, she worked at Samson’s Country Maid in Pike Creek and her customers always loved the sandwiches she made, especially the fresh turkey subs. Marge always enjoyed working with her friends there and hearing about their lives. Her hobbies included Scrabble, bingo, spending Sundays with her grandchildren, and watching anything on TV with Elvis or Tom Selleck. Marge also enjoyed watching all the Shrek films with her grandchildren. Her favorite vacations were road trips to Skyline Drive, the Grand Canyon, Nashville, and Memphis.

A loving grandmother, mother, aunt, sister, and wife, Marge is survived by her two children, Michelle Johnson (Chris) of Hockessin and William Stevenson Jr. of Aldan, PA; her sister, Mary Smith (Paul); her brother, David Leyanna; her two grandchildren, Marissa and Autumn; and her nieces, Dawn Davis (Roger) and Lisa Lawson (Jeff). She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Martha Leyanna; and her ex-husband, William Stevenson

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Friday afternoon, December 15th, 2023, in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware.
