Margaret R. “Peg” Plunkett

Margaret R. “Peg” Plunkett, age 91, formerly of PA, DE, and NH, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday evening, February 26, 2023.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on December 15, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Bridget (Conway) Connors. Peg worked as an executive secretary for many years and later in life she eventually went on to manage a restaurant in Delaware City.

A woman of faith, Peg was a member of St. Paul’s R.C. Church. She loved to host friends and family at her home. Peg loved to cook and bake. She was fun loving and opened her home to everyone and was like a second mother to children’s friends. In her spare time, Peg enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and working on any brain stimulating game she could find. She could also be found looking for antiques and hunting for deals. Above all, Peg will always be remembered as a beautiful woman, inside and out.

In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph P. Plunkett and her twin sons, Joseph and Edward Plunkett. She is survived by her children, Peggy Maynard (Jeff), Patricia Cranmer (Mark), and Marie Brigham (Chuck); grandchildren, Julie Davis (Rich), Bridget Aspen (Andrew), Jenine Manion (Chris), Lauren Cass (Andrew), Rachel Stoffer (King), Becca Stoffer (Praneeth), Amy Chartier (Marc), and Tim Maynard (Kathy); sister, Joanne Hogan; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 209 Washington Street, Delaware City, DE, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am. Inurnment will follow in New St. Paul’s Cemetery, Delaware City, DE.

  • Joe and Ed were my best friends growing up. Condolences to the family. May your grief be short and your memories long.

  • I was so saddened to hear the loss from about your mother. She was a very funny gracious lady. She was one of a kind and I will always remember her kindness. I hope marie will be okay and eveyone who loved peg. I am truly sorry that I won’t be able to attend. Rest in peace Peg!
