Marianne B. Ambler, age 81, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 10, 2024.

Born in Chester, PA on September 3, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Louis Anthony and Ann D. (Fiazza) Bruno. Marianne was a graduate of Chester High School and attended Peirce College in Philadelphia, PA. She began her career in 1960 at Scott Paper Co. until 1967. During this time, Marianne also worked at the New York World’s Fair in 1965 at Scott Pavilion. She then started her career with Dupont Co. where she worked from 1967 until 1971. In 1982, Marianne began working at the University of Delaware, where she stayed until her retirement in 2011.

Marianne married the love of her life, Ellwood “Butch” Ambler in 1968. A devout Catholic, she was a member of Holy Angels R.C. Church. Marianne enjoyed teaching CCD for several years.

In addition to her parents, Marianne was preceded in death by her husband, Ellwood Ambler; and sister, Dolores Watson. She is survived by her sons, Matthew Ambler (Jessica) and Michael Ambler (Nancy), both of Newark; grandchildren, Sam Ambler, Jake Ambler, Emily Ambler, and Drew Ambler, all of Newark; and sister, Connie Hubert of Wilmington.

The Ambler family would like to extend a special thank you to Marianne’s nurse, Maria Felts for her care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.
